ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Joshua, a university student in Dubai trying to have a balanced life.

Hi! I’m Josh (short for Joshua). I’m currently an Accounting and Finance student based in Dubai, but beyond the textbooks and lectures, I’ve always been drawn to figuring out how money, lifestyle, and sustainability connect in everyday life.

This blog grew out of a simple idea: as students, we’re all trying to balance our lives. Eat well, stay fit, managing our money while still doing our best to study and have a little fun. Sounds decent in practice, but the reality is a little more complicated. Between late-night study sessions, tight budgets, and a fast-paced city like Dubai, I’ve had to learn how to make small, practical changes that actually stick.

Although it’s true that there are many aspects to a student’s life, I find that there are 3 core avenues to expand that lead to having greater skills, not only for academics but even going onwards from then. These 3 are:

FOOD

Food is an incredibly important part of each person’s life. We eat, sure, but learning to make is a crucial skill, for both financial benefits and mental benefits. When it comes to food, I keep it super simple: budget-friendly, fitness-focused and/or good tasting meals. I share high-protein meal prep ideas, affordable grocery lists, and easy recipes that work in a busy student schedule. Don’t make the mistake of thinking cheap food can’t be tasty AND nutritious. My food content is all about showing how you can eat well on a student budget while tasting good and still hitting your fitness goals—and yes, sometimes that means finding the best deals in Dubai supermarkets or turning leftovers into something that actually tastes good.

FITNESS

Fitness, for me, isn’t about chasing the “perfect” routine, because there is no perfect. it’s about finding workouts that actually fit into your life while being as close to perfect for you that you can aim for. I share realistic fitness advice, workout routines, and lifestyle-based approaches that balance studies, social life, and health. Whether it’s hitting the gym between classes or squeezing in a bodyweight session in your dorm, my content is all about making fitness practical, sustainable, and doable on a student budget. No overcomplicated jargon—just real strategies to help you stay active, healthy, and consistent.

FINANCE

Finance is kind of where everything comes together for me. I’m studying BSc Accounting and Finance at University of Birmingham Dubai, and a lot of what I share will originate from that student point of view—budgeting, saving, making the most of limited money—but it doesn’t stop there. I’m also really interested in what’s happening in the bigger finance world, whether that’s new trends in fintech or just the kind of finance news that ends up shaping the way we all live. My content is a mix of both: the personal side of money that students deal with every day, and the broader conversations happening in finance that I’m learning about as I go deeper into my degree. I’m confident I don’t have all the answers, but I’m more excited to explore the space in real time and share what I find useful and interesting for all of us.
